After having lived on a raw foods diet for almost three years now, I have decided to start my own raw food blog, called A Raw Food Life. It is actually not a new idea–I just didn’t think I had the time. But I have learned so much and feel so good that I just have to share. So from now on you will be able to read about how I am surviving and thriving on a 100% raw diet.
You should know, however, that I am not a vegan and never have been. I make this distinction because many raw foodists are. The way I see it, though, as long as it is uncooked, it is fair game. I have even tried organic raw dairy, including raw cheese. Ceviche, a dish made with raw fish that has been “cooked” in acids citrus juices is now a holiday tradition at my house, and served right alongside the turkey and mashed potatoes.
And that’s another thing–I cook for the rest of my family. Don’t get me wrong–they are very supportive of my lifestyle, but expect business as usual where the kitchen is concerned. I am happy to oblige, as long as I am allowed to offer healthy food choices. And of course, with me on raw foods, there are always fruits and vegetables around the house, which have replaced many other kinds of snacks.
I’m so glad you’ve decided to make the time for this blog Rana! I’m looking forward to learning from you.
