And Now, The Story of How a Board-Certified Music Therapist Learned How to Build a Successful Business from Home

Hello and welcome. Thanks for your interest.

My name is Rana Burr, and my husband Kent and I have been married 12 wonderful years. We have four beautiful children and two very fun border collies. I appreciate you stopping by my personal website to read my bio and learn more about how I might be able to help you.

People who know me, know that I am a very easy going, fun-loving person with integrity. I tell it like it is, get to the point, and give people tons of beneficial information. Making money becomes almost effortless once you understand leverage and marketing, and I’ll share with you what I know works.

I’m excited to jump out of bed each day and enjoy helping others in any way I can. You see, my home-based business is paying for a cutting edge program for my special needs son, a program so new that it is not covered by insurance or paid for by the school district yet. Most families struggle to pay for it every month, but thanks to my business, I just write a check. Other members of my team are seeing their dreams fulfilled as well. One of my partners is the wife of a physician. Thanks to her new income, her husband was able to cut back to half-time at the medical college where he teaches and open his own intergrative medicine clinic. Another partner was able to walk away from a 13-year career as a parts and service director for Augusta Lincoln Mercury and buy a second home in the mountains of North Carolina. It is wonderfully satisfying to see the lifestyle changes of my teammates.

Over the past few years of marketing online, I’ve found that replicated websites and emails really don’t validate trust or relationship building when it comes to getting involved in business opportunities.

There are so many scams and sites that will take your money and rip you off. I once watched a website that promised big returns in 90 days on any size investment (the highest was about $2000). Before 90 days had passed, the website had disappeared, along with millions of dollars belonging to thousands of get-rich hopefuls.

I was born in Pottstown, Pennsylvania. My twin sister and I bounced back and forth between parents through our formative years. It was not until my mother remarried that we experienced real stability. I later learned that my early experiences were also laying the foundation for my financial blueprint--and not necessarily for the better.

After graduating at the top of our class from Evans Highschool, in Augusta, Georgia, both of us went to college. Rebecca, my twin sister, chose a career in academia. My passion and goal in life was to become a music therapist. I did very well in school, learned to perform on both the flute and guitar, and eventually graduated summa cum laude from Utah State University with a Bachelor of Science in music therapy. And better yet, I found a fiancé and my first border collie. It was a dream come true.

After my internship at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio, Kent and I were married. We had no sooner begun our new lives together when my mom introduced us to our first network marketing opportunity.

Now, I don’t want to sound negative here, but we really did very poorly. By the time we woke up at the end of two years of working hard to build our business, we were $14,000 in the hole! This company wanted us to spend $200 per month (at least ) just to qualify for a $6 commission check on stuff we weren’t necessarily that excited about buying. The commission structure went up, of course, as you kept helping others to join. The problem was, we could only get two other people to join, and one of them was Kent’s sister.

Two things happened during that experience that changed our lives forever. Number one, we started to dream. Number two, we became better people due to the personal growth program of reading books and listening to tapes. I would even go so far to say that it probably even saved our marriage.

It was years before I would even look at another opportunity. Early on, I actually dropped a couple thousand dollars on a real estate investing course complete with a mentorship program. Right before I structured my first deal, the 800 number for the company mysteriously stopped working. I tried to track down my mentor personally, but he had virtually disappeared.

Later, I tried a few internet ventures that to this day have not panned out, even though they promised that I wouldn’t have to be directly involved in the activity required to earn a ridiculously large income.

Actually, I wasn’t really trying to find an opportunity when one showed up–this time from a friend of my mom’s. It was a traditional network marketing company but with several distinct differences from anything I had ever seen before. For one, there were no products to inventory. That was huge for me (years later I found some carpet cleaner and shampoo from my other company that I just had so much of I couldn’t use it all!) Second, there were no quotas to meet–no more trying to meet a certain sales volume within a certain time frame after which you would have to start all over. Third, I didn’t have to buy anything if I didn’t want to–because that was not how the money was made. The cool thing was that there was an effective, very time-efficient system already in place that the company teaches so that you can start earning money right away. I still use that system today, because it continues to be very profitable. However, that is not all I do. I will get to that in a moment.

So why should you care? Most people, when they look at business opportunities either on or offline have certain hang-ups, as I like to call them. Some of them feel like they are above being involved in one of those "things." I am sure everyone knows one or two people who are ridiculed behind their back at work or social gatherings because they have a network marketing business which they try to shove down other people’s throats any chance they get.

And like me, a lot of people have already tried a few things that sucked their bank account dry and almost cost them their marriage (there is actually a website dedicated to marriages Amway couldn’t save), not to mention scared off friends and acquaintances.

The first thing I did was to learn a very simple system offered by my company. I had a whole team of people to help me along the way, and I did have some success. What I found, though, was that not everyone I hosted was willing to do what I did in order to get themselves off to the fast start they needed to begin making money.

So I began to look at other systems which automate the process of putting me into contact with the people who are already looking for a home-based business. That way, I don’t waste anyone’s time and they don’t waste mine (I did tell you that I have four children, didn’t I? I kind of like to spend time with them, too :).

The details of the business building systems I recommend can be found by clicking here or onto Network Marketing Online Tools at the bottom of the page. Now, don't get me wrong--when you are working with a company like the one I am working with, you will have no problem sharing it with those you care about. In fact, you would be silly not to (they may even get mad at you for not telling them about it!).

If you are serious about having a successful home-based business, I would like to invite you to call me so we can set aside some time to talk.

Let me leave you with a few thoughts from some of my favorite teachers of success:

"The first thing you need to do is realize everything you need is already in you and accept it!" —Mike Dillard, author of the incredible Magnetic Sponsoring course

"The key is "Positioning." Most people don’t realize...You have to position yourself for wealth." T. Harv Eker, Best-selling author of Secrets of the Millionaire Mind and wealth coach

"If you are putting a lot of time, money, and emotion into an opportunity (without getting a reasonable return on your investment), STOP and evaluate your activities. Seek the advice of someone who will give you an honest assessment of your situation."–Ed Forteau & Kevin Paschke, creators of Conversational Recruiting: The Complete Business Success System.
